As with birds, keep your scaly friends away from drafty areas, windows, and heater vents. Also, if kept in a sunny location, make sure there is shade available to avoid overheating. Make sure your friend is safe when cooking or doing household chores as they may drown or get burned easily.
Amphibians are very sensitive to airborne toxins due to their permeable skin. Avoid exposure to smoke, gasoline products, paint products, cleaning supplies, candles or potpourri, perfumes, or other aromatic compounds.
Make sure to wash your or your child's hands after handling these fun pets due to the risk of contracting Salmonella, a very serious bacterial infection. Children under 5 years old should not be allowed to handle these animals.
